This morning, my little family was getting ready for the day as we always do. The kids were all dressed and eating breakfast, I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth, and Kaci was at her makeup station laying down some foundation.

All of a sudden, I hear a song in the distance that immediately caused my toothbrush to become a microphone. A song I love so much, but haven't heard it in like 10 years. The song was Blink 182's "I Miss You", and I honestly can't believe I forgot about it.

So that got me thinking, how many songs are out there that we all absolutely love, but totally forgot about.

Here's my list, with a friendly reminder that we're all getting old.

  • 1

    Blink 182 - "I Miss You"

We'll start the list with a song I've already mentioned. It's hard to believe the track was released 14 years ago, but when this song comes on in 2017, everyone still sings along. Also, the new Blink 182 sounds a lot like the Blink 182 we all know and love, so we can all can celebrate that.

    Gorillaz - "Feel Good Inc."

Releases in 2005, there was a time where you would hear this song three or four times a day on the radio, and no one would complain. From the creepy laugh in the beginning, to the downright awesome lyrics, we can't believe we forgot this golden track.

  • 3

    Semisonic - "Closing Time"

If bars and nightclubs stayed open 24-7, this song may have already been forgotten by everyone. This classic was released back in 1998, but it's absolutely timeless. Everyone knows all of the words, and whenever it pops in your eardrums, you'll never get it out of your head.

  • 4

Eiffel 65 - "Blue (Da Ba Dee)"

There's no way anyone on the planet listens to this song on the regular, but there's also no way anyone on the planet can not sing along when it plays. Even though the song was released in 1999, and we've had nearly two decades to learn the lyrics, most of us don't know what is actually said. That doesn't stop us from blurting out what we think the songs says every time it comes on.

Tal Bachman - "She's So High"

If Tal Bachman walked up to you on the street, you'd probably have no clue who he is. Heck if he gave you an autograph, it would probably mean nothing to you. But if Bachman sit's on the street with a guitar and start's singing his hit song "She's So High", you better believe people will flock to his location to sing along. Hard to believe this track was released in 1999.

Fountains Of Wayne - "Stacy's Mom"

There's no possibly way I could make this list without including this song. In fact, if this was a one-song list, I could make a strong case for this song to be the one song. Stacy's Mom was the one hit wonder from Fountains Of Wayne, released back in 2003. If this song plays in 2017 and anyone does not sing along, they may not be a human.

  • 7

Evanescence - "Bring Me To Life"

I may or may not tore my vocal cords trying to sing this song. One of the most popular songs released by Evanescence, the popularity of this song will simply never go away. With over 300 million views on YouTube, people still love the song and will always turn into a rock star when it comes on. The song is nearly fifteen years old, and that fact alone makes me want to cry.

Yung Joc - "It's Goin' Down"

As a club DJ, I can say without a doubt that no matter the club, or the demo within the club, this song ALWAYS works. it's timeless, and one of the most recognizable rap songs of all time. Released in 2006, this song will simply never get old, but unless the DJ plays it regularly, you may have forgotten all about it.

  • 9

Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Californication"

You didn't think I could get through this entire list without including a song from the RHCP? "Californication" was released back in 1999, but I'm confident that even in 2039, everyone will still rock out to this song. One of my favorite RHCP songs, and I proved it by listening to it four times in a row while writing this post.

    Shaggy - "It Wasn't Me"

    Alright.

It's amazing how one word, sung the right way, can cause a large amount of people to freak out. One of the most recognizable and loved songs of it's time, Shaggy's "It Wasn't Me" is an absolute classic. I kind of feels like Eiffel 65's Blue in that most of us don't know all of the lyrics, but we will still sing it loud and proud and make up what we don't know.
