Malyk Bonnet was just doing what he felt was right at the time, which ultimately saved one woman's life.

According to CBS, after finishing his shift at a restaurant, Canadian teen Malyk Bonnet was headed home. He noticed a couple arguing on the street. The man was screaming at the woman. When 17-year-old Bonnet approached them, they asked him for money to take the bus.

He agreed to give them money, but quickly noticed that something wasn't right.

The woman was noticeably frightened and Bonnet said she kept saying, "Please help me. He don't want to let me go. I want to go home, but he don't want to let me go."

What Bonnet didn't know was that the woman had been kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend, the man who was yelling at her. Sensing something was wrong, Bonnet lied to the couple saying that he lived near where they were going and that he would ride along with them on the bus. The man, beginning to trust Bonnet, complied.

Bonnet said his plan was to keep them in a public place, with lots of people.

He offered to buy them food at a Tim Hortons restaurant. After giving the man some money, Bonnet was able to sneak off and call the police. They arrived in minutes as they had been looking for the woman, who had been kidnapped earlier that day.

The man was arrested on the spot and charged with kidnapping, assault and forcible confinement. Police intend on nominating Bonnet for a provincial award for bravery, but Bonnet is as humble as they come. "I mean yo, money ain't nothing. Food ain't nothing. For a life? A life is really more important than my money," he said.
