Marksville Deputy Marshals on Trial for Murder of Boy

I hate everything about this story.  One of the worst aspects of this situation is that not all of the details are fully known.  The whole thing gets worse and worse the more we know.

Here is what is being reported so far:

November 3rd of 2015, officers attempted to pull over a white SUV with the child's father at the wheel after receiving reports of a man and a woman arguing outside of a local bar.  After a high speed chase, the vehicle was stopped on a dead-end street.

What happens next is not entirely clear, even after the body cam footage.  What is clear is that 18 shots were fired into the vehicle striking and wounding the driver.  5 bullets also struck and killed his 6 year old son.
