It was a fun morning for K-5 students at Elm Grove Elementary School. They spent it learning about different jobs involving science, technology, engineering and math.

I'm proud to once again have been invited to be a guest at this morning's event. I started out in the library, explaining my job to the Kindergartners. They were full of questions, but mostly interested in the music aspect of my radio job.

I got to have a little bit more fun in the gymnasium, where the 1st-through-5th-graders stopped by the different stations. At my table, they got to play around with my audio recorder. That was a huge hit with the kids last year. I set up scenarios for them, and they took turns interviewing each other.

Some of these kids have real talent -- they asked the perfect questions to try to get the answers they were looking for. There were some interviewees who were a little microphone-shy, but it was still fun watching them pretend to be, for example, the owner of a new business in town, a famous actress or sports star, or a student who just won a big award.

There were many other presenters, from newspaper and TV, a dental company, the military, Chimp Haven, and even a violinist from the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra. I'm told this year's STEM Career Day was even more successful than the last, and I look forward to being a part of it again next year.

Take a look at some photos from the morning:
