ICE Processing Centers across Texas are reporting some truly disturbing news, a mumps outbreak is spreading through the facilities.  Precision Vaccinations is reporting that, so far, 27 cases of the mumps have been confirmed in 6 different Immigration and Customs Enforcement locations.  The South Texas ICE Processing Center near San Antonio reported 10 cases, the Houston Contract Detention Facility confirmed 8, 5 cases were reported at the Joe Corley Detention Facility, the Rio Grande Detention Center had 2, and the Laredo Processing Center and the Port Isabel Detention Center each had one case confirmed.

The Houston Health Department confirmed that 7 individuals were detained during their "infectious" period, but that no infections have spread past the ICE facilities.  The CDC has suggested that the outbreaks could be due to non-vaccinated international travelers from countries, like Honduras, that have recently experienced mumps outbreaks.

According to the report, "People who received 2 doses of MMR vaccine as children according to the U.S. vaccination schedule are considered protected for life."
