An evening wreck in west Shreveport leaves a toddler fighting for his life.

Shreveport police say just before 6 last night, a 4-year-old boy was crossing from behind an ice cream truck, which was stopped in the 6800 block of West Canal Boulevard selling treats, when he was hit by a Kia Forte sedan driven by 23-year-old Labrittany Bush of Shreveport.

The child suffered "significant injures" to his head and lower body. He remains in critical condition at University Health.

Bush was taken to the hospital for routine toxicology tests, but she wasn't believed to have been impaired at the time of the crash. She wasn't charged in the accident, but she was cited for driving with a suspended license.
