By now you would think that I have gotten my masters degree, but that is not the case. I have had to transfer from two different colleges. Which I highly recommend you never do. It can be a major head ache, but college is more than just taking classes. It can be a frightening and stressful experience. However, you may be ready and you don't even know it.

1. You are anxious and nervous.

This is a good thing! You are embarking on a whole new adventure. You are allowed to be nervous.

2. You have applied, been accepted, and scheduled your classes.

This is kind of a big one. Be prepared. Meet with an adviser. You can't go to class if you didn't sign up for any.

3. You have established your housing.

Do you plan on living in the dorms? Are you staying with your folks? Splitting an apartment with roommates? I did a little of all three. I stayed in the dorms for my first two years and then moved back home, and then got my own place.

4. You've looked into your supplies.

Some classes have very specific requirements like a reading list or calculators. Check your lists and know which books are required. I highly recommend getting amazon prime. There is a deal for students and it will help finding text books to rent.

5. You got the money thing figured out.

How are you paying for college? Have you looked into student loans? Do you plan on getting a job?

You don't have to have all the answers right this moment, but be aware of the obstacles ahead. My biggest tip to entering college is to have a support system. You got this, just breathe.
