50 Cent on Same-Sex Marriage: ‘I’m for It’
During his interview on Funkmaster Flex’s Hot 97 radio show, 50 Cent threw his support behind President Obama’s stance of same-sex couples having the right to get legally married. The New York rapper felt that Obama took a long time to address the issue, but agreed with his position.
“I’m cool. I would like people to actually be happy,” he said. “Technically I don’t see where it fits into any religion. The Bible that they would read to marry you, it doesn’t have anything in it that says same-sex. If it does, then I would like someone to point out that interpretation.”
50 adds that in his personal life, he’s engaged in threesomes with women and allowed lesbian sexcapades to occur in his, um, romps. “I’ve encouraged same-sex activities,” he said. “I’ve engaged in fetish areas a couple times. I’m for it. I’m wondering if I’m bad for promoting it when the president says it’s fine.”
Although 50 has been accused of homophobic comments in the past, as Pink News points out, it’s seems as if the rapper has changed his views on homosexuality.
50 Cent is the latest artist to come out and back President Obama on gay marriage. Rapper T.I. feels that the issue is a personal choice and holds no bias on who should get married. “If it’s not something that directly affects you, if it doesn’t affect you, what difference does it make to you what other people are doing with their lives?” he told Sway on RapFix Live. “I think that you should be able to do whatever you want to do.”
Meanwhile, Jay-Z praised Obama for his position and feels that legalizing same-sex marriage was the right thing to do. “I’ve always thought it as something that was still holding the country back,” he said on CNN. “What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love. That’s their business. It’s no different than discriminating against blacks. It’s discrimination plain and simple.”
