A large group of Northwestern State students chose to "pay it forward" last week. The beneficiary was the Robeline Food Pantry.

When I was a student at Baylor, each year there was a campus-wide community service project called "Steppin' Out." I loved seeing my fellow students come together to help out the community our university called home.

Which is why I love seeing that 90 Northwestern State students did something similar last week.

The students set out to help the Robeline Food Pantry for a project called "1 of 7." The idea is to devote one day to helping make the community, and world, a better place. According to the Shreveport Times, students cleaned out freezers, tore out metal shelving that was then recycled, and cleaned the exterior of the building. They also burned refuse and sorted large boxes of food for distribution.

Robeline Food Pantry was established 14 years ago as an extension of Triune Ministries. They service up to 250 people a month.
