Bossier Parish schools get out for the long holiday break this Friday, but there are plenty of activities going on before then.

Here's the list sent to us by Bossier Schools Liaison Sonja Bailes:

Monday, December 15
Stockwell Place Elementary
8:15 a.m.
“The 410 Bridge Final Tally”

Did Stockwell Place Elementary reach its goal of raising $5,000 to help 410 Bridge build a classroom block in Ereri, Kenya? The FCA sponsors challenged W.T. Lewis and Legacy Elementary Schools to help as well as Cope Middle School, all of which accepted the challenge and have been raising money. An anonymous donor has agreed to match dollar for dollar the grand total up to $5,000. School representatives from W.T. Lewis, Legacy and Cope will be at Stockwell at 8:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15 to present their checks and the grand total will be announced to students over the intercom. This will be big, I assure you!

Monday, December 15
Pilgrim Manor Guest Care
1524 Doctors Drive
Bossier City
11 a.m.
“Cards From the Heart”

Plantation Park Elementary will spread Christmas cheer to those oftentimes forgotten. Students have created by hand more than 700 Christmas cards. At 11 a.m. Monday, December 15, second grade students and the Pink Ponies service group will travel to Pilgrim Manor Guest Care to pass out these cards to residents. Sponsors of the event will also be wearing hearts as they hand deliver these cards, because they are “Cards from the Heart.” They hope the cards, their visit and hugs from the young will bring smiles to their elders this Christmas season.

Monday, December 15
Bossier High School Library
10:40 a.m.
“Christmas Store”

What a great way for the Bossier High Bearkats to do their Christmas shopping - and for free! For two days, a Christmas store will be open for business in the school library during lunch shift for students to come shop for their brothers and sisters. Free toys and stuffed animals are available for the taking. Tis better to give than to receive and what a great feeling the Bearkats will have Christmas morning when their siblings unwrap gifts chosen especially for them!

Tuesday, December 16
Legacy Elementary
9 a.m.
“Scripps National Spelling Bee”

Legacy Elementary students will compete in an old-fashioned spelling bee at 9 a.m. Tuesday, December 16 to determine who will advance to the regional Scripps competition. The words get pretty difficult as the contest advances. Ever heard of somnipathy?

What a great way for the Bossier High Bearkats to do their Christmas shopping - and for free! This is the final day for students to come shop in the Christmas store during lunch break for their brothers and sisters. It’s the best deal in town because the toys and stuffed animals are free for the taking. They will be packaging the items at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, December 16 at school for delivery by Candy Jett, a Stockwell parent who serves approximately 100 homeless every Saturday in Downtown Shreveport. It’s happening at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 16.

Thursday, December 18
