A Closer Look at the Constitutional Amendments
14 Constitutional Amendments are on the ballot Tuesday. You might want to study them ahead of time before going to the polls.
The Public Affairs Research Council has a comprehensive look at each proposal, but here are some of the highlights.
-Two of the amendments will change how cities deal with blighted properties or delinquent taxes on property.
-The fourth proposed constitutional amendment would create a transportation infrastructure bank.
- Elimination of the mandatory retirement age of judges
- Sales of property with delinquent taxes
- Changes to tax rebates, incentives and abatements in Louisiana
In Orleans Parish, voters are being asked to decide on a higher mileage cap for police and fire protection.
"These proposals were approved by legislators during the 2013 and 2014 regular sessions, the PAR guide states. "Those receiving a majority vote in the statewide election will be enacted."
