Phife Dawg, member of hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest, has died at the age of 45.

The cause of death is unknown, but Phife Dawg,  whose real name was Malik Isaac Taylor, had been battling diabetes since he was diagnosed back in 1990, and had received a kidney transplant in 2008.

A Tribe Called Quest released its debut album, People’s Instinctive Paths and the Paths of Rhythm, in 1990, and were best known for such tracks as "The Scenario" and "Bonita Applebum".
