A crowd of about 250 people showed up for a pep rally in Shreveport to show support for bringing a New Orleans Pelicans G-League team to town.

Local high school cheerleaders and a band were brought in to fire up the crowd.

The city used the occasion to shoot a video that will be submitted to the Pelicans organization for consideration.

Former NBA player Stromile Swift, Sports broadcaster Tim Brando and others stepped up to fire up the crowd.

Mayor Tyler has proposed building a $ 25 million dollar sports complex at Cross Bayou to house the team. Skeptics say this should not be on Shreveport's priority list right now, but city leaders say this is only a proposal, and serious discussions would have to take place if our city is chosen by the Pelicans.
