Perpetually sparkling big-hearted singer Adam Lambert will be honored with this year's Davidson/Valentini Award at the GLAAD Media Awards in May.

The award -- named after GLAAD's first executive director, Craig Davidson, and his partner, Michael Valentini -- is bestowed upon openly LGBT individuals in the media who are known for promoting “equality for the gay community.”

In a statement, GLAAD's Wilson Cruz said:

"Adam Lambert's continued success as one of the world's best-selling pop stars shows LGBT people that they can be themselves and make it in a mainstream industry that many feel unfairly rejects them. Adam is fearless on stage and astonishes audiences in every country he performs in.”

Lambert will join past award recipients Lee Daniels (director of 'Precious'), comedians Alec Mapa and Sandra Bernhard, B.D. Wong (of 'Law and Order: SVU') and 'Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman' actor/child star, Chad Allen.

The 2013 festivities will take place in San Francisco on May 11. We wholly expect Adam to arrive looking every bit as fabulous as usual.
