Uh oh Adele! The new mom has a case of baby blues and it's going to cost her some green.

Adele gave birth to a baby boy on Oct. 19, but according to British authorities, she missed the 42-day cutoff date to legally register to the tyke. The Sun reports that neither Adele nor her boyfriend, Simon Konecki, have made any appointments to register their new son with the British government.

A source told the tab, “Cops are hardly going to be banging on their door tomorrow and it’s probably just an oversight on their part. “Most parents register their baby within a couple of weeks because it’s a nice thing to do – and because there’s a maximum fine of £1,000 (about $1,613) if they don’t. There’s loads of reasons why parents are late and millions of couples don’t bother for ages.”

Still, it's better to get this sort of thing out of the way early. The source added that if the baby's not registered by his three-month mark, the registrar can be held liable and fined -- which means warning letters and more of a headache for the proud parents later on.

Part of Adele's failure to register may be in part because of her fiercely private nature. No one knows any details about her son other than his birthday and gender. Registering the tot will make his name known and risk more details leaking about him, so we wouldn't be surprised if Adele not only just forgot (she's too busy with that pricey nursery!), but also was deliberately a little hesitant.
