2011 will go down in history as "The Year of the Woman", due in no small part to Adele.

The singer made history by being the first female artist to top the Billboard album chart (for "21"), the singles chart (for "Rolling in the Deep") and the Top Artists chart in the same year.

"21" hung on to the No. 1 spot on the album charts for 13 weeks in a row, the most weeks at the top since the "Titanic" soundtrack in 1998.

But it wasn't all about Adele this year; for the first time the four Top Artists of the year were all women, with Rihanna, Katy Perry and Lady Gaga following Adele.
