WWII disrupted the lives of millions from around the world and would change the future for an entire generation. Milton Mockerman of Michigan was one of those impacted by the great war after he changed his birth certificate so he could join the Navy back in 1944 in turn leaving High School before he graduated.

KLTV says after the war and his old school burning down losing all his records he decided to move his family and start a long career with the railroad. But after 70 years he still wanted the one thing missing in his life which was the High School diploma. So Mockerman reached out to his old school Kalkaska High School.

The administrators were so touched by his story having had family fight in the war and some losing their lives they wanted to help him out. So on Saturday the 89 year old war veteran finally received his diploma along with the rest of the 2017 graduating class.
