Two University of Alabama football players were arrested on drug and weapons charges early Tuesday morning in Monroe.

Cameron Robinson and Laurence "Hootie" Jones, both of Monroe were accused of smoking marijuana in the presence of stolen firearms in Forsythe Park. Police say that they spotted the car in the park's parking lot after closing time when upon closer inspection, they detected a strong odor of marijuana.

They then found Jones in the passenger's seat with a handgun in his lap. Both he and Robinson were removed from the car where police saw a bag of marijuana in plain sight.

Robinson was charged with two felonies of illegal possession of a firearm and possession of a stolen gun. Jones was arrested for possession of drugs and carrying a weapon in the presence of narcotics. They were both booked into OCC.
