The Town of Blanchard is set to put an alcohol measure on the ballot in November. Mayor Jim Galambos tells us this is a complicated issued, but it revolves around the new Walmart on Highway 1. Blanchard supplies water to the new Walmart, but the property is not in the city because Walmart sells alcohol and that is not allowed in the Town of Blanchard. The residents of Blanchard would have to approve the sale of alcohol before this annexation could happen.

Mayor Galambos tells KEEL news if approved, the tax on alcohol sales would bring in 1.2 million dollars to the town and he plans to use that money for more police protection.

So far, no organized opposition has surfaced, but the measure has just been approved by the Town's Board of Aldermen.
