American Idol wrapped up its next to last season by crowning Nick Fratiani its Season 14 champ, beating out runner-up Jax (aka Jackie Cole).

But it wasn't a total loss for the New Jersey native; she got invited onstage to perform a duet with Aerosmith frontman and former Idol judge Steven Tyler with a rendition of the classic Janis Joplin tune "Piece of My Heart".

Other special guests on the season finale included Fall Out Boy, New Kids On The Block, The Jacksons, Janelle Monae, Vance Joy and Michael McDonald.

Fox announced Monday that the final season of American Idol will begin in 2016.
