Comedian Andy Dick was arrested and jailed late Friday night in Hollywood for suspicion of felony grand theft after allegedly stealing a necklace.

People magazine reports that Dick was riding his bike in a heavily-trafficked section of Hollywood Friday night when he stopped next to a man and asked to look at his chain. The man handed the necklace over, which was reported to be worth $1000, and Dick allegedly rode off with it.

Dick was later arrested and detained on suspicion of felony grand theft and released Saturday morning, a source told E! News. He's due in court Dec. 4.

If convicted, Dick faces a maximum sentence of three years in state prison, one year if it's a misdemeanor.

The 48-year-old comedian has fought a well-publicized battle with substance abuse for many years and has had several brushes with the law, most recently an arrest for a drunken disturbance at a Marie Callender's restaurant in Temecula, Ca in 2011.
