Arrest Made in Haughton Home Invasion

A man is behind bars for a home invasion and kidnapping at a Haughton home.

At around 1 a.m. Monday, Bossier sheriff's deputies got a call from residents on East Trails End, off of Highway 3227 in Haughton. They told deputies 35-year-old Jeffrey McCoy, armed with a gun, busted into their house and hit the woman in the face with the handgun, then pointed the gun at the man.

They said McCoy yelled at them, grabbed the woman by her hair, forced her out of the home and made her walk down the sidewalk. The man yelled to McCoy that police were on the way. McCoy shoved the woman down and ran towards the man back at the house, but was unable to get inside. He took off in a vehicle parked on nearby Evangeline Lane.

Deputies arrived and searched the area for McCoy, but were unable to locate them there or at his house. They got warrants for McCoy's arrest Monday afternoon, and a couple of hours later found out McCoy was back at his home, where he was living with a family member on S. Elm Street.

Deputies, not taking any chances because they knew McCoy was armed and dangerous, enlisted the help of Haughton police officers and the Bossier Sheriff's SWAT Team, and surrounded the residence. McCoy surrendered, and was taken into custody late yesterday afternoon.

According to the sheriff's office, McCoy has a lengthy criminal history, which includes multiple drug charges, felony theft and burglary. He now faces home invasion, second degree kidnapping, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

He's been booked into the Bossier Maximum Security Facility on a $600,000 bond.
