The Bossier and Greater Shreveport Chambers of Commerce announced their ATHENA Award recipients at a luncheon this afternoon.

The Bossier Chamber of Commerce recipient is Sandra Haynes with Hilton Garden Inn & Homewood Suites. She's been with the hotel since 2012, and is said to project a friendly and professional image of herself and the hotel at all times.

In her spare time, she serves as the Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Gingerbread House, a non-profit that serves abused children. She's also actively involved with the Renesting Project, which provides gently-used furniture and household goods at no cost to those transitioning from homelessness within the community.

Johnette Magner with Shreveport-Bossier Business Alliance was the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce recipient. She was instrumental in establishing doctoral degrees and helping to secure stable funding for the region's universities.

Dr. Magner is currently serving as the first female Board President in the 90-year history of the Norwela Council of the Boy Scouts of America. She has also served as the Board President of Sci-Port and as a Vice President/Chairman of the Board for the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, Providence House, Shreveport Junior League and the Women's Philanthropy Network. She also serves state-wide on the Board of Council for a Better Louisiana.

We congratulate these outstanding ladies for their hard work and dedication to the community.
