Adele has denied multiple reports that she has married fiance Simon Konecki, taking to Twitter on Thursday (Aug. 30) to make a hard-to-misinterpret post that reads, in full: “I’m not married…Zzzzzzz.” The Daily Mail started rumors on Wednesday that the singer had recently tied the knot by citing a splashy front page of Life and Style magazine that pictured the singer wearing a wedding band alongside a headline that proclaimed: “Married!”
Whether you love the songs or hate the songs — or love one and find the other somewhat annoying, as some of us do — Gotye‘s ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ and teen star Carly Rae Jepsen‘s ‘Call Me Maybe’ are two of the biggest, most ubiquitous and most unavoidable hits of 2012. So, what happens when two such massively successful songs become one?
Think you can name the future frontman who’s featured in this yearbook photo? This singer got his start in a band named Pinwheel and with a solo project titled All-Time Quarterback before forming the group that would put him on the map in Bellingham, Wash. in 1997. The band’s debut album, ‘Something About Airplanes,’ dropped the following year.
“I’ve got some big news,” Adele promised on her blog today (June 29), and she certainly does: The 24-year-old British songbird is pregnant. Adele and her boyfriend, 36-year-old charity worker Simon Konecki, are happily planning for the arrival of their first baby.
Fiona Apple doesn’t appear in public very often — even performing concerts is a rarity for her, nevermind sitting down for a chat on a late night talk show — so the fact that she swung by ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’ on Monday night to do both was big news for Apple fans. Even just hearing her speak during her interview was a weird experience — we swear we don’t remember her voice sounding like that.
Add “miracle worker” to the ever-growing list of accomplishments Adele has chalked up in her still-young career. When a 7-year-old British girl named Charlotte Neve was hospitalized recently with a rare brain hemorrhage, doctors told her mother Leila that it would take a miracle for her daughter to recover. But after a week in a coma, that’s exactly what happened — thanks to the music of none other than Adele.
In a recent Village Voice interview with Mark Ronson, the producer/DJ was quoted as saying that the late, great Amy Winehouse had been “freaked out” by fellow British star Adele — very much aware of her and perhaps even intimidated by her massive success. Now he has gone on the record as saying that he was straight-up misquoted in the piece, and that Winehouse was more motivated by Adele than jealous.
No Doubt have announced a Sept. 25 release date for their long-awaited sixth album and first since ‘Rock Steady’ dropped in 2001. The band revealed their plans for the as-yet-untitled disc with a post on their official website and a video clip on YouTube, which you can watch below. “We are incredibly excited to share the new music with you,” reads the post. “Ear candy coming your way!”
Chris Mann is the resident opera singer on this season’s ‘The Voice,’ and for the most part he’s stuck to his guns so far, singing classic tunes when his fellow contestants were busting out versions of the latest contemporary pop hits. Not this week. Instead, Mann tried his hand at the Coldplay mega-hit ‘Viva La Vida.’
