‘American Idol’ contestant Joshua Ledet did sunshine state native Josh Groban proud with his powerful performance of the song ‘You Raise Me Up’ on tonight’s (May 9) episode. Ledet showed a range of vocal variety, taking us from low to high and making it almost impossible to believe that last year he was sent home without even a ticket to Hollywood.
‘American Idol’ contestant Phillip Phillips was either smiling tonight because he’s in the final four, or perhaps it was because he was embracing the spirit of tonight’s round one theme and California dreamin’.
The women who populate this list aren’t just your average ladies with a little ink. These women are hot, hardcore and not afraid of the stigma that comes with etching permanent markings on their bodies. W
‘American Idol‘ contestant Elise Testone was left to close tonight’s show, and after several standout performances, the pressure was on. Maybe it’s simply because she’s got the chops, or maybe it was the video of celebrity Jason Segal wishing her luck before she sang – but in any event she blew it out of the water with her performance, of Lady Gaga‘s ‘You & I.’
This week’s ‘American Idol‘ contestant Joshua Ledet turned 20 years old today (April 11). But before performing Bruno Mars‘ ‘Runaway Baby,’ Ryan Seacrest had a special birthday greeting for Ledet from none other than third season ‘Idol’ winner Fantasia Barrino. We visited his hometown of West Lake, La. where apparently they are as excited about Ledet as we are. Humble and adorable Ledet said “I’m just a small town boy, and that’s what I want to be at the end of the day.”
Mississippian and ‘American Idol’ contestant and Skylar Laine may just be the best singer on whatever side of the Mississippi she resides on. This week the contestants had a plethora of options as they were able to choose any song that had been recorded from 2010 on. Not a surprise Laine picked a country song, ‘Didn’t You Know How Much I Loved You,’ by fellow country crooner and ‘Idol’ alum Kellie Pickler.
After being in the bottom ‘American Idol’ contestant, Heejan Han entered this week with his tail between his legs. While his charismatic personality and humor shone on stage, his vocals weren’t quite cutting it. Perhaps it was the harsh reality of barely surviving another week that got Han to take the competition seriously and hit us with a comeback.
When ‘American Idol’ hopeful Elise Testone walked into rehearsal and told mentors Stevie Nicks and Jimmy Iovine that she was planning to sing ‘Whole Lotta Love’ by English rock band Led Zeppelin, they looked slightly worried. However once Testone opened her mouth, the fear and skepticism immediately washed from their faces. Nicks even had the singer harmonize with her on one of her very own songs and said afterwards, “If I needed a singer I’d hire her in a second.”
‘American Idol‘ contestant Jessica Sanchez is a diva in the making, so it was only appropriate that she serenade us in a Sasha Fierce fashion singing ‘Sweet Dreams’ by Beyonce Knowles. Sanchez coined Knowles as her idol stating “As a kid I used to try and do her moves, but I don’t anymore because I know I can’t do them!” We’d still like to see her give it the old college try.
When ‘American Idol’ contestant Colton Dixon recently hooked up with ‘Idol’ alum Chris Daughtry for dinner, he got two pieces of advice from the successful singer: Daughtry advised Dixon to “be himself” and “choose songs that people know.”
If ‘American Idol’ contestant Skylar Laine was really “a lot more nervous than usual” on account of the judges “being mean,” tonight, she certainly didn’t let it show. In the beginning of her segment it showed as the mentors tried unsuccessfully to steer her in another direction with her song choice and take her out of her comfort zone.
