Not only did Benton High School Senior Garrett Jacobs make it through the 'showcase' round on American Idol Monday night, Tuesday, April 3, 2018 will officially be recognized as 'Garrett Jacobs Day' in Bossier City!

Fans of Jacobs gathered at Silver Star Smokehouse for a watch party Monday night to cheer him on as the world learned he was moving on to Idol's top 24. His family was in Hollywood for his pre-taped performance and his grandmother, whom he affectionately calls Honey, thought he was the 'sexiest thing out there!'

We thought Garrett was great and we can't wait for our chance to vote like crazy to support him through what we hope is the finish line... yes, an American Idol from right here in northwest Louisiana!

In honor of Garrett's achievements thus far, Mayor Lo Walker of Bossier City is declaring Tuesday, April 3, 2018 Garrett Jacobs Day. Public Information Officer Mark Natale released the following Monday afternoon:

The City of Bossier City will honor local American Idol contestant Garrett Jacobs tomorrow, April 3, 2018 at the Bossier City Council meeting with a proclamation from Mayor Lorenz Walker declaring the day as Garrett Jacobs Day in the city. Garrett is scheduled to be at tomorrow’s city council meeting to accept the proclamation. The presentation will take place near the beginning of the meeting during the Ceremonial Matters portion of the agenda.
