Look no further than this page, PS4 owners, as we have a list of games that are sure to make that PS4 the best purchase you've ever made... or at least the best recent purchase you've ever made. From first-party thrill rides to indie games and more, these are the Best PlayStation 4 games.

  • Sportsfriends

    Die Gute Fabrik

Johann Sebastian Joust. BaraBariBall. Super Pole Riders. Hokra. Four games with really strange names that take multiplayer to places that the PS4 doesn't otherwise go. Each of these games can turn an ordinary party into insane gaming action... and perhaps some lost friendships. We imagine plenty of controllers (and possibly punches) have been thrown after a late slam dunk in BaraBariBall or goal in Super Pole Riders. Download Sportsfriends and have it ready for the next time your buddies stop by to play some games, but remember that this is only a game and you're all still friends and like each other very much, no matter how the games end.

  • Transistor

    Supergiant Games

Supergiant Games has a terrific knack for introducing a brand new world filled with mystery and intrigue, then convincing us to get lost in it for hours on end. Transistor is the developer's latest work, and it's another prime example of their excellent storytelling and mechanical prowess. The real-time battle system is fast and crisp, and the time-freezing "Turn" mechanic lets us plan our attack before jumping right into any battle, which is very helpful in the later stages of the game. Everything about Transistor makes it one of the best games on the PlayStation Store, so make sure to download it and see for yourself.

  • MLB 14: The Show

    Sony San Diego

No does baseball better than Sony San Diego. MLB: The Show has ruled over the baseball video game world for years and MLB 14: The Show is just the most recent example of the series' greatness. Authenticity presides over every facet of the game, from the way players look to the strategies teams can employ mid-game to the types of pitches we can choose from and so much more. The Show is modern-day Major League Baseball is disc form, and MLB 14 makes it even more real with the power of the PS4. This is a no-brainer for baseball fans.

  • Flower

    thatgamecompany

Flower has no business being as enjoyable as it is. We're tasked with flying a group of flower petals through a darkened field in order to bring light to it again, and that's about it. The glorified obstacle courses do get more difficult over time, but stage after stage it's the same old thing. So what makes Flower the fascinating game it is? The answer lies in the sheer beauty of the game, from the look of the fields after restoration to the wonderful soundtrack and everything in between. Flower is a game we turn on when we've had a bad day and we just want to unwind and get back into a proper mindset, and it works every single time.

  • The Last of Us Remastered

    Naughty Dog

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past two years or so, you've heard of Naughty Dog's epic The Last of Us and how wonderful everyone thinks it is. It truly is a marvelous game on the PlayStation 3, but the re-mastering process that brought it to the PlayStation 4 somehow made it even more amazing. Now running in a full 60 frames per second with glorious 1080p HD graphics, The Last of Us has never felt or looked better. The only thing unchanged was the story, but that part of the game needed no tweaking at all. If you're one of the last of us to play The Last of Us, pick up the remastered version and experience it as soon as possible.

  • Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

    Monolith Productions

It's hard not to feel like a badass while playing Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Talion is one powerful ranger/Wraith hybrid, able to take on dozens of Orcs and Uruks at a time and strike them down with precision and skill. Well, except for the times he decides to "brutalize" one poor sap and send the rest running for the hills. The Nemesis system of enemies ascending through the ranks of the enemy army makes killing certain enemies even more satisfying, as taking down a particular bad guy who gave us problems before is just so sweet. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor caters to our more primal urges in a way few other games do, and in doing so makes the game one of the best 'Lord of the Rings' games ever made.

  • Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-

    Arc System Works

A 2D fighter on the PlayStation 4? Guilty Gear Xrd (pronounced "ex-ard" because reasons) -SIGN- sure looks like a new 2D fighter, but the wizards at Aksys and Arc System Works actually used Unreal Engine 3 to create a strange 2D/3D hybrid that boasts some of the most striking visuals we've ever seen. Sol Badguy, Faust, Chip, and other series veterans are all restored in this new style while being joined by a few new characters, including one man permanently strapped to a living mechanical bed that fights his battles for him. That's not a joke, and if that description isn't enough to get you to at least try this new Guilty Gear out, then we don't know what else to say.

  • The Wolf Among Us

    Telltale Games

It's not easy being Bigby Wolf. The man has to play authority figure to a city area filled with displaced fairy tale characters, all while trying to solve a heinous murder mystery involving two young ladies of the community. How the story plays depends entirely on how we, the players, decide to react to certain situations: do we kill the bad guy in our clutches or do we leave him alive for info later on? Do we talk down to the townsfolk or try to be level with them? The Wolf Among Us is a fascinating noir tale with plenty of twists and shocking moments, a perfect window into what Telltale Games does best, and we can't recommend it enough.

  • Far Cry 4

    Ubisoft

We see an elephant roaming around outside of our enemy's compound, temporarily minding its own business. However, we need a diversion to break into said compound and complete our missions, so what do we do? We get on top of that elephant, crash through the gates, and turn that pissed off pachyderm loose against our enemies while we do what we have to do and get out of there. This is but one of the crazy scenarios Far Cry 4 throws at you, and the fight against self-proclaimed leader Pagan Min and his henchmen gets even more crazy as the game progresses. While other shooter games lead us down a pre-determined path, Far Cry lets us think outside the box to plan our attack, and that's what makes it so good.

  • Infamous: Second Son

    Sucker Punch

We know that graphics do not a complete game make, but let's talk about how pretty Infamous: Second Son is for a second. Everything in this game shines, from the city skyline in the background of some areas to the buildings themselves up close. One trip to the top of the Space Needle (which happens early in the game to prove this point) will take your breath away with the view of Seattle. It helps that Infamous is also a fantastic game with awesome powers and an interesting new direction for the series, but one cannot deny just how pretty everything looks while Delsin gallivants around battling the D.U.P. The First Light expansion is also awesome because we get to play as the infinitely more interesting character Fetch. No matter how you play, Infamous: Second Son is an awesome addition to the franchise.

  • Walking Dead, Season Two

    Telltale Games

We had no problem controlling an adult man as he struggled to keep his group together in Season One of Telltale's The Walking Dead. We knew Lee could take care of himself and the others, so we had faith in our choices. Season Two changes all of that, putting us in the role of young Clementine and making us question every single thing we do. Are we putting Clementine in danger without realizing it? Who do we trust with her life? How do we continue on? The constant nagging doubt and fear drive the entire experience, leading us to a hardened and capable Clementine that we can (hopefully) trust our decisions with in the next season. We can't wait for Season Three to be announced.

  • Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris

    Crystal Dynamics

Those looking for the typical Tomb Raider experience here might be disappointed, but everyone else will find a fantastic co-op experience in Temple of Osiris. Up to four players can adventure together through giant temples seeking treasure and legendary artifacts while battling giant bosses. Each of the four characters has an attribute that will help the rest of the team out as well, like Lara's harpoon gun that can create a rope bridge for the rest to climb over before she rappels to the other side herself. There's a lot of teamwork and cooperation involved in Temple of Osiris, which is why we love playing it with friends so much and we think you will, too.

  • LittleBigPlanet 3

    Sumo Digital

The surprise sequel to LittleBigPlanet (and first ever entry on the PlayStation 4) brought a new developer in Sumo Digital, and many wondered just how a new team would handle the pressure of following the magnificent work of Media Molecule. As we soon found out Sumo Digital was more than capable with Sackboy and his new pals Toggle, Oddsock, and Swoop, turning LBP into a four-player co-op festival of fun and the series's trademark cuteness. LittleBigPlanet 3 requires some teamwork between the four players, as each character's unique traits will be essential in clearing some of the game's harder levels. Whether you're playing with your friends on the couch or online there's ton of fun to be had with LittleBigPlanet 3, and Sumo Digital has clearly carried the torch well.

  • Alien: Isolation

    Creative Assembly

Jump scares? Hah! We wish there were jump scares in Alien: Isolation as we'd gladly take the brief jump and heart beat-skipping over the slow and sustained dread we feel while trying to outrun this deadly Xenomorph. This thing is always hunting, always stalking, and sometimes our best hiding spots aren't enough to keep us from meeting an untimely end at the hands of the big ugly guy. Alien: Isolation's ability to keep the tension high throughout the game makes it one of the most adrenaline-filled games on the PlayStation 4, and even those who don't handle horror well should give it a run just to experience it for themselves.

  • Destiny

    Bungie

Guardians around the world will agree when we say Destiny made the biggest lasting impression on the gaming industry of any game released in the year 2014. Players are still jumping into Bungie's epic world and taking on some of its most difficult challenges, especially now that the first expansion, The Dark Below, is out and the second one is soon to come. We bet millions of Hive and Fallen enemies have been taken out by the gaming populations with millions more to come as the game gets older. With a world that's always filled with things to do and more equipment to find during those activities, we doubt Destiny fans will be putting that title down anytime soon.

  • Killzone: Shadow Fall

    Guerrilla Games

One of the first games to launch on Sony's brand new console, Killzone: Shadow Fall serves as a perfect window to how powerful this new console is and was right out of the box. The arenas we're shooting through are some of the most beautiful landscapes we've ever seen, and the action is fast and frenetic from beginning to end. If this game is possible right at the console's launch, imagine what we'll be seeing when developers are able to tinker with it for an extended period of time. The thought of it makes us smile from ear to ear.

  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

    Sledgehammer Games

Call of Duty has been shooting its way to the top of sales charts for years now, so it's no surprise the series has come out strong from the beginning on PlayStation 4. The first entry developed specifically for the new generation, Advanced Warfare is one of the most technically impressive CoD games yet, from the extensive futuristic arsenal to the unreal cutscene visuals. The voice acting is top-notch as well, buffered by both voiceover king Troy Baker and the magnificent Kevin Spacey. We're looking forward to Advanced Warfare 2 the next time Sledgehammer's turn comes up, because the first one turned out to be a amazing thing.

  • Watch Dogs

    Ubisoft

It's easy to put off Watch Dogs as "Grand Theft Auto with hacking," but we don't see what's wrong with that comparison. GTA is always one of the top games of whatever year they launch in, so Watch Dogs being compared to it only makes this game look better. We can't get enough of the power Aiden Pearce can unleash with one press of his cellphone, from switching traffic lights to blacking out an entire city block. The city of Chicago is a perfect playground for Aiden's antics too, giving us plenty of different areas to test out our technical powers. We see the beginnings of a new powerhouse franchise in Watch Dogs, and we hope Ubisoft does, too.

  • Grand Theft Auto V

    Rockstar Games

Speaking of Grand Theft Auto, the remastered GTA V ported to the PlayStation 4 might be the coolest use of the Grand Theft Auto formula ever made. It wasn't enough to make the game look better, Rockstar threw in a first-person mode for good measure and let us see first-hand the havoc we caused on the Los Santos streets. We never expected first-person GTA to work as well as it does in GTA V for PS4, and we'd say that this mode alone is enough to re-buy the game and jump back into it. The story is the same, but the way we've seen it has changed completely and we don't think we can ever go back.

  • Dragon Age: Inquisition

    BioWare

The first real RPG epic on the PlayStation 4, Dragon Age: Inquisition puts us in charge of an elite group of warriors and tasks us with quelling the quarrels that plague the world as we see fit. That's a major undertaking, as we've seen people burn 150-200 hours easy into adventuring through the game, picking up quests and fighting massive dragons. There's also many social avenues that can be explored within the ranks of our army and a ton of items and armor to collect and equip. While we did expect this Inquisition, we never expected it to be as incredibly fun as it turned out to be.
