Memorial Day marks the unofficial start to summer, when Shreveport and Bossier City teenagers are free from high school and looking for summer jobs. There's plenty of work out there if you look in the right places.

These summer job ideas may not be the most glamorous, but they'll put gas in your car and give you some spending money for those late summer nights.

Fast Food Restaurants

You can flip some burgers at several local eateries. McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, Taco Bell, Sonic and many more national fast food franchises have several locations in Shreveport and Bossier City.

Splash Kingdom

Splash Kingdom in Shreveport says it's now looking for summer 2013 employees who are at least 16 years old to join its water safety, food service, security/first aid, park services and guest services teams.

Starbucks

Shreveport-Bossier teens already seem to spend a lot of time inside local Starbucks, so getting paid to serve up double shot espressos and Frappuccinos might be an easy next step.

Babysitting

This job can range in difficulty, but it can also be one of the more lucrative summer jobs out there. Just make sure the kid(s) aren't too ornery...or that the parents are willing to drop an extra $20 if you leave with ruined clothing.

Grocery Store Stocker/Cashier

You can head over to a local Walmart, Albertsons, Brookshire's or Super 1 Foods and apply for a job stocking shelves or ringing up customers. We're not saying you'll definitely be able to text while you work, but you can probably text while you work.
