Beyonce made a special appearance at the United Nations' New York headquarters to debut her World Humanitarian Day anthem.

The singer and U.N. officials launched the initiative, set for Aug. 19, which encourages people to get involved in charity ventures. Beyonce gave U.N. chiefs permission to use her track "I Was Here" to mark the worldwide event.

Beyonce performed the song at the organization's General Assembly Hall in New York Friday, after which she told the crowd, "I'd like to ask everyone to make sure they're a part of August 19th. It's such a beautiful, beautiful day... God bless you all. Thank you so much for having me."
