On the surface, it seemed like an amicable parting of the ways when Beyoncé and her longtime manager/father, Matthew Knowles, severed professional ties a few months ago.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, though, the truth is far more complicated.

As it turns out, the elder Knowles recently filed a lawsuit alleging that he was forced out of Beyoncé's camp -- and that it happened because of lies spread by Live Nation Entertainment, the live-events behemoth that merged with Ticketmaster last year. Specifically, Knowles says his daughter was told he "had stolen money from Beyoncé on her most recent tour or otherwise taken funds that [he] was not entitled to."

Not surprisingly, Knowles denies any theft, and is asking for permission to take depositions of Live Nation employees in an effort to determine where the accusations came from.

The hubbub comes at an inopportune time for Beyoncé, currently out promoting her latest solo album, '4.' The singer's publicist declined to comment on the lawsuit.
