Monday morning, we announced the winner of the Kidd Kraddick show's Big Break contest was Madison Applegate. We chatted with the up-and-coming 16-year-old singer about how it feels to be on the fast-track to success and why she's sticking with her real name.

We spoke on the phone with Madison before she makes the trip out to the Kidd Kraddick in the Morning studios to get prepared for her music video. She described the whirlwind of activity in the past day since winning the contest as a " really, really great 24 hours."

"It's been unreal," Madison told us on the phone. "I've kinda just been out of it, the amount of phone calls I've received is unreal. My whole family and friends and everyone who helped me out with this has been so great about it and it's been so fun."

Madison also revealed that she's moving away from her previous nickname, Maddy Applez. That decision could help her career in the long run.

Big Al suggested Madison call herself 'the artist formerly known as Maddy Applez, but Jenna pointed out that using her full name sounded "more mature."

But the win has definitely not went to Madison's head. When Big Al asked what she was doing tomorrow, her answer spoke volumes.

"Wednesday I'm working," she said. "I work at Marshalls."
