A big vote could come today on the proposed Walmart Supercenter for North Bossier. The Metropolitan Planning Commission is expected to take a final vote on the planned store on Airline Drive at Wemple Road.

Hundreds of residents have signed a petition to try to keep the retail giant out of the area because of concerns about traffic, trash and congestion. The Bossier City Council annexed nearly 100 acres of land for the project, but the Council changed course after the number of signatures on that petition grew to more than 2,000. The Council put the project on hold. A favorable vote today by the MPC would get the ball rolling again.

Walmart representatives attended a meeting of residents last week to try to ease some of the concerns about the plan for the store.
