Bone Marrow Transplant Recipient Meets the Donor Who Saved Her Life
The Kidd Kraddick in the Morning show flew out Thomas, a German man who donated bone marrow and saved 'I Have a Dream' listener Katie Waggoner, so the pair could meet for the first time.
To say the meeting between Thomas and Katie was touching would be an understatement.
Thomas explained the process of donating bone marrow, from taking injections, undergoing blood tests and the pain. But J-Si said it best: "If you're going to save someone's life, a little bit of hurt is worth it."
Katie's son Ryan and daughter were also there, and what they said made us tear up.
"Thank you for saving my mommy's life," said Ryan. "If it wasn't for you, she wouldn't be living to this day."
"Thank you for saving my mommy's life, I don't know what I'd do without my mom if you didn't save her life," said Katie's daughter.
Listen to it all, including Katie's heartfelt statement, below. (Tip: Keep those tissues close!)
