Earlier this week, a Bossier City employee crashed his truck after a night of drinking. Now, he's a pioneer for buzzed city employees in the city.

Instead of firing the guy for driving drunk and crashing a company truck, Mayor Lo Walker instead created a new policy making it legal for city working to drink and drive. Mayor Walker said that this particular worker was a "good employee" who shouldn't be fired over a .02 blood alcohol level.

According to the new policy, city workers can drink on the job, as long as they don't exceed a .04 BAC limit.

I'm sorry, but what year are we in????

We're talking about actual police officers now being able to crack a cold one before they pull you over. We're talking about a paramedic guzzling down a Natty before giving you emergency stitches. We're talking about... Well, you get the point.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds this policy absolutely ridiculous. Bossier City Council President Don Williams is challenging the new agreement, arguing the city should be zero tolerance. "This sounds like something that was done in the old days," he said. "Under the table, greasy, not fairly done."

The official job title of the employee in question has not been released yet, but Mayor Walker said he's only been on the job for two months.
