About a year ago, massive flooding swept across the state.  While the southern portion of the state was the hardest hit, Shreveport / Bossier City received over 26 inches of rain and was flooded quite thoroughly.  When the Bossier Sheriff's Office sprung into action, they found that they weren't quite prepared for the rapidly changing conditions. That's not a commentary on the officers or the department - they just didn't have the boats they needed to patrol, conduct search and rescues, and generally get around the flooded areas.  Luckily, the National Guard helped us out by lending two inflatable boats to the BPSO.

The guys and girls at Firehouse Subs were having none of that!  The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation awarded the BPSO a grant that allowed them to purchase two new inflatable boats of their very own!  The next time there is a flood, they will be able to jump into the action much faster.

I love this all the way around, and it calls into the spotlight the fact that Firehouse Subs has a fund that they constantly maintain and grow that is specifically for purchasing much-needed and life-saving equipment for emergency services all around the country.  I would love to see more companies do this more often.

This is not an ad or an endorsement for Firehouse Subs, but with that kind of commitment to the community and the country - I know where I'm eating lunch today.
