Bossier Sheriff’s Office to Offer Free Self-Defense Class for Women
If you were being attacked, what would you do? Even if, by some miracle, you were able to call 911 – it’s foolish to think that would save your neck in an emergency. I’m not the only one to think so either, the Bossier Sheriff’s Office thinks you need to know how to protect your self in an emergency. In the precious minutes before the authorities arrive, your ability to defend yourself and others is literally the difference between life and death.
To that end, Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington is offering a free Women’s Self-Defense class to those who refuse to become the victim of a crime. The class is open to the first 40 women to sign up. Young ladies between the ages of 14 and 18 may sign up with an older sibling or parent. While the class that teaches basic self defense techniques and confidence is free, organizers ask that you bring a non-perishable food donation for the food bank program, Operation Blessing.
The classes will be held from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Viking Dr. Substation in Bossier City. To sign up, or find out more – contact the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Training Academy at 318-965-3525.
