Burger King issued an apology to Mary J. Blige and her fans for releasing a commercial that incited major backlash from fans. The commercial features Blige singing about BK's new chicken snack wraps. The spot went viral when it was released on Monday, prompting some in the black community to call it "stereotypical". Burger King pulled the spot shortly after, citing music licensing issues.

Blige issued a statement saying she understood why fans were upset, adding that the commercial didn't come across the way it was planned and she would never release an unfinished spot.

Burger King says they hope to have the finished version of the ad on the air soon.
