Caddo Parish Leads North Louisiana in National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists
Eight students from Caddo Parish have been named semifinalists for the 60th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. The semifinalists for the National Merit Scholarship Program have been named and according to the Shreveport Times, the eight students from Caddo Parish are the most in any parish in North Louisiana.
They'll be competing for about 7,600 scholarships totaling nearly $33 million.
They are:
Rebekah L. Bryant of C.E. Byrd High School
Caleb D. Basinger of Caddo Parish Magnet High School
Matthew J. Carman of Caddo Parish Magnet High School
Vincent Huang of Caddo Parish Magnet High School
Neil Nathan of Caddo Parish Magnet High School
Amy L. Ren of Caddo Parish Magnet High School
Ryan E. Shacklettet of Caddo Parish Magnet High School
Noah D. Sorkey of Caddo Parish Magnet High School
These brainiacs are some of 16,000 semifinalists nationwide. The pool was 1.4 million students in 22,000 high schools.
Finalists will be announced in February.
