There is a new emergency notification system being implemented in Caddo Parish, and Sheriff Steve Prator is urging all residents in the Parish to sign up.

The new system is called CodeRED, and a release from the CPSO outlines what the new system does.

Parish officials will use the system to send emergency notifications to residents in minutes by cell or landline. However, “the system is only as good as our data,” Prator said. “To receive emergency information, you must register.”

CodeRED sends notifications by voice, text or email.

If you had signed up for the Parish's old system, FirstCall, Sheriff Prator says you should sign up for the new one just to ensure your information is correct.

Notifications will be customized for different kinds of weather warnings and emergencies to be delivered to target areas based on the addresses of registered users.

It’s free to sign up for CodeRED. Go to caddosheriff.org to register or at https://public.coderedweb.com/cne/BF0C5D5A7C26.
