Some much deserved recognition came the late Rev. Msgr. Jules Daigle's recently.  This is the man who brought us all A Dictionary of the Cajun Language.  The state legislature has deemed this book so important to our culture, this year they named Welsh Louisiana the "Official Home of the Cajun Dictionary."  The Rev. Msgr. Daigle served at Our Lady of Seven Dolors for 44 years with distinction, and over that time he collected and compiled the most complete listing of Cajun phrases and definitions the world has ever seen.  Without it how would you know what these beauties mean:

amoureux - (adj) To be in Love as in - Il écoute pas  personne parce qu'il est amoureux. (He doesn't listen to anyone because he's in love.)

bête - (pronounced BET) (n.)1. animal. 2. cow, cattle. (adj.) 1. dumb, stupid. 2. silly.

tactac - (n) popcorn. boule de tactac (popcorn ball.)

If you put together A Dictionary Of The Language Of The SBC, you would have to include:

Ratchet - (adj) The act of being inelegant, disrespectful, rude, or down right nasty.

Geaux - (v) SBC equivalent of "go"

Bless your heart - (phrase) Could be blessing or an insult, it just depends on the context.

What did I miss?
