Last night, following their children's parade at Pierre Bossier Mall, the Krewe of Aesclepius hosted the annual Upstate Party at their den. Confession time: During my first few weeks living in Louisiana last summer, I thought a co-worker had misspelled the word "crew" when I saw it written as "krewe." She still (rightfully) teases me about it to this day. I was a stranger in a strange land, a Yankee from New Jersey living in the south.

The Krewe of Centaur showcased amazing floats, great costumes and no small amount of Mardi Gras beads at their annual Mardi Gras parade in Shreveport this past Saturday (February 2). We were lucky enough to have the chance to ride in our own Townsquare Media Shreveport float during the event, taking in the sights and sounds of the estimated 200,000 people who showed up to party.
