25 Classic Moments When Movies Broke the Fourth Wall

Early tracking estimates Deadpool could make upwards of $70 million this weekend; Forbes says it could be “the first R-rated comic book superhero blockbuster.” It’s already certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes (though not by this critic). Excitement is high for Deadpool, and people are getting a huge kick out of the character’s snarky, self mocking attitude. A big facet of Deadpool’s comic persona, one lifted directly from his comics, is that he is fully aware that he is a fictional character inside a movie; even as he’s slicing and shooting bad guys he references the fact that he’s trapped in a film (and sometimes a pretty shoddy looking one) that’s part of a wider universe of movies (he even refers to some of the famous actors who’ve played X-Men over the years).

Rumor: New ‘Saw’ Sequel on the Way From the Writers of ‘Piranha 3D’

Rumors have persisted for years that Lionsgate wasn’t quite done with the Saw franchise — even though the last sequel was titled Saw 3D: The Final Chapter. But titles are meaningless as long as there’s money to be made, and with that pesky Paranormal Activity franchise out of the way (for now), it looks like Lionsgate is reviving the franchise that introduced us to James Wan, Jigsaw and a multi-film timeline so convoluted it would give Quentin Tarantino the spins.

‘Fast 8’ Eyes Charlize Theron to Play the Villain, May Make All Your Dreams Come True

Fact: Mad Max: Fury Road was one of the best films of 2015, if not of all time. Fact: Charlize Theron is an amazing actress who’s pretty great at playing not-so-nice characters and stone cold badasses. Fact: Fury Road proved that she could be even more badass when you put her behind the wheel, leading us to daydream about seeing Theron in a Fast and Furious movie. So here’s an even better fact: Fast 8 might be making those dreams come true.

‘Deadpool 2’ Is Already in Development With the Original Writers

In news that should shock pretty much no one given the current state of superhero studio films, a Deadpool sequel is already in the works, with Fox reportedly giving the Merc With a Mouth’s follow-up the green light before his first solo outing even hits theaters. Box office tracking for the R-rated superhero film indicates that it’s going to perform pretty well, and early word-of-mouth from promotional screenings has been fairly positive (though the film is far more divisive among critics).

Try to Find Dory in These New ‘Finding Dory’ Posters

While we wait for another trailer for Pixar’s long-awaited Finding Nemo sequel, these new Finding Dory posters are taking a bit of a clever approach by asking you to find Dory — though the simple-minded little fish isn’t so good at hiding. The four posters feature the tagline “Have you seen her?,” calling to mind the kind of missing pet posters you might see around your neighborhood. Maybe Pixar should put Dory’s face on a milk carton. (They can pay me for that idea later.)

‘The Lobster’ Trailer: Colin Farrell Must Find a Mate or He’ll Be Turned into a Lobster

Yorgos Lanthimos is responsible for such darkly satirical films as Dogtooth and Alps, but his latest might be his most heartfelt, perceptive and hilarious film yet. The trailer for The Lobster asks you to envision a world in which Colin Farrell is a mustached, lonely schlub faced with a rather alarming predicament: he has 45 days to find a mate, or he'll be transformed into an animal — at least he gets to choose the animal.
