One simple lyric change was enough to cause a big uproar.

Cee-Lo Green performed John Lennon's "Imagine" on NBC's New Year's Eve show and made a slight alteration in the song's lyrics. Where the original words read "Nothing to kill or die for, and no religion too," Green sang "Nothing to kill or die for, and all religion's true"

Green tried to deflect any criticism by tweeting, "Yo I meant no disrespect by changing the lyric guys! I was trying to say a world were u could believe what u wanted that's all."

That didn't stop angry Lennon fans from tweeting their outrage, including one that read, "You sang 'Imagine' in a fur coat & expensive jewelry and changed lyric to be pro-religion."

Green has since deleted those tweets from his account.
