Chief Crump Says Officer Out of Line but Deserves Due Process [VIDEO]

Shreveport Police Chief Alan Crump talks about the case against Gary Thomas, the officer placed on leave for a profanity laced tirade against a teenage suspect.

Chief tells KEEL News:

It may not look good because he is a police officer and we are in contact with the public and we have that high standard that we are held to. But he does have due process and rights just as everybody else. Not to try to minimize the situation,  but in a similar situation if that person were in any other profession and went through that then the same outrage may not be there.

KTBS reports Thomas was fired last year after being arrested for domestic violence in Bossier City. However, after completing a diversion program which included anger management classes, Thomas reached a deal with the city to be reinstated. His estranged wife agreed to the terms. Bossier City police have been urged to add extra patrols around Thomas' home because he has been getting death threats.
