Turns out there's more to the story of Childish Gambino's animated character in the new "Feels Like Summer" video. A new Donald Glover-directed short for Adidas Originals tells the story of what happens after that video ends, and serves as the announcement that Gambino will come on as a Brand Co-Creator with the shoe company.

Where the song's visual follows Gambino's character pacing down a neighborhood street and observing various animated celebrities before reaching home, the short, titled "Donald Glover," shows the character after he walks inside. The avatar, wearing the same forlorn expression as in the music video, sits down, takes off his shoes, grabs an Adidas box, and puts on a new pair of sneakers. Then, the short ends.

Not much more is known about Childish's deal with Adidas, but the brand says in a press release that the partnership is "multi-faceted" and will involve creative projects, footwear and apparel.

Childish Gambino's "Feels Like Summer" visual was his second video of the year following his provocative video for the chart-topping single "This Is America," which took home the 2018 MTV Video Music Award last month for best "video with a message."

Gambino released "Feels Like Summer" in July alongside the song "Summertime Magic," labeling the pair of Ludwig Goransson-produced tracks, "Summer Pack." The songs and "This Is America" are the rapper's first new songs since his 2016 album Awaken, My Love.

Glover has said that his next full-length, whenever it drops, will be the final Childish Gambino album. Watch his new animated short for Adidas Originals below.
