Chip Gaines Says the End of ‘Fixer Upper’ Made Him ‘Giddy’

One half of the Fixer Upper duo is opening up about feeling trapped in the show.

If you're like me, you were devastated with Texas couple Chip and Joanna Gaines decided to pull the plug on their home renovation and design show, Fixer Upper. As someone who lived in Waco for seven years prior to the Magnolia brand takeover, I felt connected to these two. The Gaines family worked to put Waco on the map, but simply doing what they loved.

And now Chip says he was "giddy" when the show ended?

Ok, hold on... Let's not get carried away. He did not hate the show and is not dancing in the midst of our tears. Instead he is remaining optimistic for the future. Recently, he opened up in an interview in Cowboys and Indians magazine about feeling "caged, trapped" in the latter years of the show's five-year run.

I’m an authentic, sincere person. So, as long as things are natural and organic, I’m in my element. But the more staged something becomes, or the more required something becomes, it boxes me up

It's got to be hard to continue to try to make the magic happen every single day for hours on end. You lose the spontaneity of it all and instead of something feeling organic, it feels forced. In the interview he also talked about being business-minded which is something that he shares with his wife. The two are excited to move forward and explore their next adventure of running their own television network, Magnolia Network.

They're excited to experience the magic of television again, but this time in a different way.
