An LAPD commander says there could be an investigation into an alleged sexual liason between an underaged Justin Bieber and an adult female because it is a violation of California's statutory rape law. Cmdr. Andrew Smith told reporters Thursday that there has not been a report taken regarding the incident at the Staples Center which occurred in October of last year. However, he said police could investigate the matter after several media outlets reported that (now) 20-year-old Mariah Yeager filed a paternity suit against Bieber.

Yeager was barely 19 when she says she and a then 16-year-old Bieber had a sexual encounter following a concert. The singer's reps deny he is the baby's father.

Under California law, anyone who has sex with a minor while not more than three years older has committed a misdemeanor, good for one year behind bars.
