Gambling in Louisiana has taken a hit in recent years due to the legalization of gaming in other states. State Representative Cedric Glover says that if gambling in Louisiana is going to survive, it needs to evolve because the laws in the state are way too restrictive. Glover cites laws limiting gaming space and riverboat designations as just two examples.

The Shreveport-Bossier area has been the hardest, losing Texas gamblers to Oklahoma. In fact, our area used to lead the state for revenue generated through gaming but has fallen down the list; Shreveport is now behind Lake Charles.

Glover and Senator Ronnie Johns from Lake Charles have created a Gaming Task Force to try and improve gaming in the state. They will turn over their findings and suggestions to Governor John Bel Edwards before the start of the 2018 Legislative Session.
