The Caddo Sheriff's Office is hosting a safe driving program for teens focused on the dangers of distracted and impaired driving.

According to a CSO news release, the course will cover distractions like texting, cell phones and music, and different forms of impairment, such as alcohol and drug use. It also involved operating an electric vehicle while wearing impairment goggles, which simulate the effects of driving under the influence.

Two sessions will be offered at Sheriff's Safety Town -- one on June 5 and the other on June 26. Class time is 10AM to noon, and participants need to have a valid driver's license or learner's permit. The course is free, but limited to 20 participants, so you'll need to pre-register. You can do that by calling Community Programs at 681-0875.
