The quarterback needy Dallas Cowboys acquired veteran quarterback Matt Cassel from the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday, shortly after putting injured starter Tony Romo on the disabled list.

Two 2017 draft picks were also exchange in the deal.

Despite the Cassel acquisition, Dallas plans to start Brandon Weeden this Sunday against Atlanta.

The 33-year-old Cassel, the number two QB in Buffalo, began his career in New England backing up Tom Brady, then won a division championship as a starter in Kansas City after signing a lucrative free agent deal.
